Goodbye Blogger, Hello Wordpress

As you can see, from the title of this post, Flobean is moving from Blogger to Wordpress. I have already created the blog and am currently making the final tweaks and adjustments. The new web address is: www.flobean.wordpress.com.

I think starting on Blogger has been good, but as I want to expand and design more I have decided to move. I hope this isn't an inconvenience to anyone.

See you over on the new Flobean blog!

Long Time No Post

Hi, *blows dust off* looking now there seems to be a few cobwebs hanging around. Been far too long since I last blogged, maybe that has something to do with travelling half way across the world, ending a relationship, starting another and beginning college. Hey ho, I'm back now *groans from the back row* I'm sure ya'll missed me haha.

Basically, I've been hiding away being a lazy bum and not posted in ages, which thinking about it now makes me pretty sad. :( Sorry, guys.

Right now I don't know where start or how to get back into the swing of things, maybe HK photos here, bit about college life there and whatever ideas or disasters pop into my head to write about. I'll figure it out. Either way I'm glad to back.

See you soon~

BLOGGING FROM HONG KONG

HEY GUYS!! Currently blogging from Hong Kong!

Been here for nearly 2 weeks now and loving everyday. Done so much and explored many places. Still got another week left of fun, hopefully I'll be able to finish off my HK bucket list by then. The highlights of my holiday have been staying with my granddad for a week, Ocean Park, Repulse Bay and DISNEYLAND. Also the McDonalds round here is pretty good too.

Photos are coming soon, along with a video, which will be posted on my YouTube channel: Flobean.

Living here I have noticed that the buildings are tall... very tall. You can get the MTR almost anywhere. Water is essential, as well as air con. And finally Chinese people sometimes want photos with my sister and I, probably because they rarely see English girls, despite the fact we are 1/4 Chinese and are very tanned from swimming in the hotel's pool and sunbathing at the beach.

While I do love it here, I am missing my bed back home and all my adorable pets. One thing I am not missing however is the weather, even though in an hour or soon a cyclone is headed to hit us. Staying safe indoors drinking iced coffee right now. This is the life and Hong Kong is my happy place.

Coffee

Remember when you were a kid and hated coffee, but now you just can't get enough? If your answer is yes, like me, then join the club.

I strongly remembering thinking coffee was disgusting, ever since my dad gave me a sip of his... which I spat out... immediately... on the floor- sorry dad. Now, however, I just can't get enough of it and thanks to Santa we now have our own coffee machine, so I don't have to go out and buy some overpriced coffee.

Which leads me to talking about Costa and Starbucks, since I can't talk about coffee without discussing whether Costa or Starbucks is better. For anyone, who doesn't know Costa is a coffee franchise like Starbucks, which is only based in the UK. In my form class in school we have a debate on a weekly basis which is better. For me I like both, but would say Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate is better, while Costa frappuccinos are better. Although, if I go out I always go to Costa, and not just because my ex crush swore by Costa religiously, or because my friend thinks Starbucks are terrorists. I guess I just like the idea that Costa is British and out of habit I go there.

To elaborate on my BFFF's reason for thinking Starbuck are terrorist (extreme I know) is this: a relative of hers works for the army and one of his jobs was to get sponsors, something like that. Anyway when they asked Starbucks, Starbucks refused to support the army, and according to what I've heard it was because they didn't want to look like they were 'choosing sides'. Like wtf? Choose sides, as in the army or terrorists? Okay, so maybe this could of been taken the wrong way, but now my friend avoids Starbucks like the plague. But don't let my post decide, which you prefer. Go out and try them yourself. However, if you don't live in England than you don't really have a choice. Also a little warning these drinks contain lots of sugar and empty calories and may make your wallet cry.

Exams Suck

I doubt I'm the first person to say this, but it's true they really do: exams totally suck!

Currently, I am revising, or more like procrastinating revising for chemistry 2+3. What convinced me to do triple award science, I will never know. Anyway I've already gotten through 19 out of 23 exams, so I'm pretty proud I'm still here. Not to mention the ICT exam I took last year and had to resit twice, only to get a Level 2 pass. Surprising how my only BTEC subject was the most difficult subject. And not to mention an English language speaking exam, which I had a panic attack in, so not worth the A.

My only exams left are chemistry 2+3, physics 2+3 (which is the equivalent to phycological torture) and graphics. Then finally I'll be done with secondary school and GCSEs... well thats as long as I pass English and Maths. If not I'll be re-sitting them in college- that's sitzenbleiben in Germany. Also, it is vital in German that you don't make the same crappy mistake (mind the pun) I did of mixing up durchfallen and Durchfall. Durchfallen means 'to fail', which I hope won't happen and Durchfall means 'diarrhea', which I also hope won't happen. Wish me luck, guys. *crosses fingers*

And just when I was thinking "No more exams after GCSEs! Yay!", I remembered A levels. Yay- not. I guess never mind where you are in life there's always going to be some kind of test or exam. Good luck to anyone and everyone with exams, GCSEs in particular, your gonna need it.

The Jungle Book+Pizza Hut with BFFF

Hey! So this weekend has been pretty exciting.

Yesterday, I went to see The Jungle Book in cinemas for my BFFF's 16th birthday. (Yep, a 15 and 16 year old went to see a kiddie film). Nevertheless, we both really enjoyed the film. The visuals were amazing, especially the animals, which I'm guessing were created using CGI. In my opinion, the film was really good. It was quite dramatic the whole way through and even at some points scary, especially at the snake scene, since I HATE snakes and the monkey scene was terrifyingly creepy too. There was even a family, who sat behind us, that left. Despite the surprising scariness of the film, we enjoyed it.

Mmmm
After the cinema we went to Pizza Hut and ended up spending £24.40 in total and we spent nearly 2 hours in there, since the train wasn't due till ages. I'm surprised no one came up to us or told us to leave. Anyway, we had fun sharing a BBQ Texan pizza with cheesy bite crust, which is literally the BEST PIZZA EVER! We were so stuffed that we couldn't even finish the pizza, so we took it to go. And I don't know if they did this on purpose, since we stayed so long, but the box for only 3 slices of pizza was HUGE. While carrying it from Pizza Hut to the train station onto the train and back to my friends house, I just looked like I was randomly travelling with a whole pizza or giving out pizza. LOL

Getting the train proved fairly difficult too, as we were supposed to be getting the train that stopped at platform 4B. We saw signs for platform 1, 2, 3 and 4A, but none for 4B. In the end we just got on a train and hoped for the best. (Luckily, it was the right train.)

Once we were back at my friends house we went upstairs and had a PS3 marathon night. If you didn't know I am a complete noob when it comes to PS3 games, such as Black Ops and Modern Warfare. My friend had to revive me like 17 times in 5 minutes, cause I kept getting killed, mainly by accidentally running into lava or fire. The only game I am good at is Black Ops 1 on the 'Kino der Toten' map. I have to say I got pretty giddy that night (probably from too many Haribos). I was crying with laughter over random stupid things. I apologise now to my friend for being so weird- sorry.

Think it was around 4am when went to sleep and woke up at 7am ish. So much for trying to finish Computer Science course work with 3 hours sleep...

Panic Attack in GCSE Exam!!

Firstly, I apologise for neglecting this blog for over a month, but fortunately I am back, as I wanted to discuss a personal issue, which I have to deal with on a daily basis: anxiety.

I've always been quiet and shy, and I become extremely nervous whenever I have an exam, despite being an A grade student. Currently, I am in year 11, and so I am faced regularly with many mocks and controlled assessments.

Today I had my English speaking and listening exam, as well as my FIRST EVER panic attack. How can I be so sure it was a panic attack? Trust me, when I say this, but if it ever happens you just know, especially since this was like something I've never experienced before. It was absolutely awful! Let me elaborate.

My teacher was going through what would happen in the exam and what I was supposed to do, when suddenly I had a huge surge of terror; intense fear washed over me. I couldn't breathe. I felt like my throat had tightened closed, or as if someone was strangling me, pinning me down in my seat. At this point I stopped listening to my teacher, and all I could register was immense fear and the chocking feeling in my throat. I felt like I was fearing for my life, even though I wasn't in any danger. Eventually, after God knows how long, I began breathing again... or more like hyperventilating. Also I think I must of cried for ages after.

Finally, with a mountain of tissues and an untouched cool glass of water I attempted my exam. It did not go well (mainly because in between every other sentence I was sniffling, or wiping my tears). The listening part, which is where the teacher ask questions went terrible. I couldn't concentrate on the questions and even answered a question with the nod of my head. This was until I realised only my voice was being recorded. So, yeah, I failed. Fortunately, my teacher is allowing me to redo it tomorrow and I'm praying I won't have another panic attack. I hope I never have a panic attack again!

If you've gone through a similar experience comment below and comment any tips to help cope with anxiety too. Thank you!

It's never too cold for ice cream at the beach...

I was wrong. Terribly wrong. It was freezing.

Today I went to Redcar beach and walked across the frozen sand. I also took my camera, looking for good photo opportunities. My hands became so numb and stiffened, that I could hardly move them to click the button on my camera. Luckily I still got some good shots, which I will show you below.

On the beach, Sorrel ran straight into a massive puddle. Sorrel isn't usually one to jump in puddles, so I'm guessing she must have mistaken it for normal sand. When she ran out she was soaking wet and shivering. Mum sighed, since she had just given her a bath yesterday. To me I would have described Sorrel as a 'salty sea lion'.

After the stroll on the beach and some filming, we went to get chips and ice cream. At first I didn't fancy any, but then I ended up stealing some of my mum's. For ice cream I got a chocolate cone and lots of chocolate sprinkles. Yum!

While I did have lots of fun, I would recommend waiting till summer to go to the seaside.

Delicious photos below (taken on Canon EOS 1200D).

Elbow infection! Another operation?!

The journey is not over yet; my arms are still not back to normal.

My left elbow has gotten infected... I'll explain.

On Tuesday I had the updated meningitis vaccine and felt fine. However, the next day at school I felt dizzy and my head hurt. That evening I laid curled up like a hamster under my dressing gown shivering with a high fever. The dizziness and headache had worsened and had been accompanied with feeling sick and muscle ache. These are all signs that I was happing a reaction to the vaccine, but what didn't make sense was that my elbow was (and still is) red, hot and swollen.

I tried to sleep it off, but it had only gotten worse, so my mum took me to the doctors. They could tell straight away that my elbow is severely infect, despite the low chances of infection after an operation.

I've been given 500mg flucloxacillin, which are the strongest antibiotics they could prescribe me. Also, they said if it doesn't clear up by Saturday then I'll have to go back to the doctors and need another operation to get rid of the infection.

Really hope it doesn't come to another operation!

BIG NEWS!!! I'm Going To Hong Kong?!

The flights are booked, accommodation is sorted and I'm officially excited!

If you haven't already gathered from the title of this blog post: I'm going to Hong Kong!

Hong Kong, if you haven't heard of it is an island off the coast of China and is classed as a city (its not its own country, as many people assume). It is also where Granddad and Chinese side of the family live.

Anyway, what I wanted to announce is that for 3 weeks in the summer holidays I will be flying out there with my mum and sister and we will be staying at my Granddad's. I'm super excited to see him and my family again, since I've only seen them a few times (last time I saw them I think I was only 10).

On my travels I will be taking a 6 hour plane flight to Dubai, where we will stop there for 3 hours (at night, so I will be hanging around the airport) and then take another 7 hour flight to Hong Kong. That's 13 hours of flying!

Hopefully, I will get the chance to visit Ocean Park and Disney Land and roam the chaotic Mong Kok night markets, which I have missed. Along the way I will take plenty photos and blog when I find a good internet connection (most likely McDonalds, as my granddad doesn't have internet).

Now to binge watch youtube videos on 'How to pack for a holiday' or 'How to pack for a vacation', as the Americans say.

Operation Horror

Finally! It's over! I've finally had my third and thankfully my final operation to remove the pins out of my left arm.

Right now I am typing this with one hand and laid back resting my left arm on a stack-no...more like a mountain of pillows. The reason behind this is to get rid and prevent swelling. There is still some swelling and both hands are badly bruised (cannula in right hand), but I'm coping. If I could manage for 3 months in pots with no arms, then I can certainly manage being one handed for a couple weeks.

Since the operation (last Wednesday) I have been off school, back to watching good ol' Jeremy Kyle and Ouran Highs School (an anime, which I finished in under 2 days). Should be going back to school tomorrow, but have a Physics 3 (triple award) mock exam, so not looking t hat forward to going back.

Hello 2016! + Update on Arms

Hello!! It feels like I haven't blogged in ages (well, since last year)- making this my first blog post of 2016.

I'm blogging to update on the whole broken arms-operation-mixup thing. So, rang up the hospital the other day and they say I've already had my operation! What?! I think I would know if I had an operation.

Anyway, after much confusion and some explaining the hospital were able to reschedule a day for my operation to take the pins out of my left arm. The date is set for the 13th of January, 7.00 am sharp.

Turns out that's the day before I broke both my arms last year! That means its only taken 364 days to fix my arms, and even then I still need to go for x-rays and physiotherapy. What a carry on? Oh, well.

I wish everyone the best for 2016!

What I Got For Christmas

Hope everyone's had a good christmas, by which I mean eating loads and spending time with family. Today I wanted to share what I got for christmas (this also gives me a chance to use my new camera to snap some pics of my presents). Before I show you whatI got, I just want to say that I am extremely grateful for everything I have received this year, so thank you.

Now let's get started:

Along with these presents I also received a ton of chocolate. My favourite present is my new camera, which is the Canon EOS 1200D.

Christmas Monday

Yes, I know it's Thursday today (christmas eve!), but the other day I had a christmas Monday with my best friend, where we exchanged gifts, watched christmas films and ate chocolate. This is a great idea and recommend it to anyone to have a christmas day with their friends, if you won't be able to see them on christmas day.

Byee for now and...Merry Christmas!!

Operation Gone Wrong

Firstly, let me tell you that I did NOT have my operation last Wednesday.

8 hours fasting and 4 hours waiting in hospital to be told that my name wasn't even on the waiting list! They had actually forgotten to put it on! By then it was nearly 5pm and the theatre was closing for the day. My mum and dad, who had both taken time off work were furious. What a waste of time!

I'm currently waiting for my operation to be rescheduled, but it probably won't happen until next year. It's been a year, since I broke my arms and I'm still dealing with this carry on. Not happy one bit! They should have checked my name was on the list as soon as we arrived. So, just as a warning to anyone else getting an operation, get someone there to check your name is actually on the waiting list. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Christmas Has Come Early

Well... kinda, since getting pins out in a few hours. Probably by the time you are reading this I have had my operation. And finally after 9 months (!!!) I won't be needing to keep visiting the hospital for monthly x-rays (that's if my arm doesn't crumble). God knows how much radiation I've been exposed to in this last year.

Also, it wouldn't be right for christmas to come early without putting up some christmas decorations and sharing them with you guys. Here's my festive favourites below:

To make a home feel like christmas it has to smell like christmas, and nothing does that better than burning this Yankee Candle in the scent 'Christmas Eve'.

These are some of my favourite Coca Cola decorations they bring back childhood memories of picking at brussel sprouts and guzzling coke as a young child.

My humble little christmas tree, which sits on my desk in my bedroom.

Last, but not least, this cluster of snowflake fairy lights, hanging down my window.

That's it for this post, I will update on how the operation goes soon. Just want to say thanks for all the support. :)

Ps guys I have a Tumblr blog, which you can follow. Basically, I'll be posting the same stuff on there that I'm posting on here, except you can follow my posts easier on Tumbler. While I do like using Blogger for blogging, its hard to follow since you need an account and who needs another account with another website? So, yeah, if you have a Tumblr account make sure you follow me at: www.flobeanblog.tumblr.com

Nominated for The Liebster Award?!

A few days ago, I was nominated by
Abby-Louise
You should check out her blog by clicking the link above ^^

So, what is The Liebster Award? and what do nominees need to do? From what I have read I need to post 11 facts about me and then answer 11 questions from the person who nominated me. I also need to create a next set of questions for the people I nominate. This award and nominations are for blogs with less than 200 followers, which I'm guessing is to help them share their blog. Let's do this!

Facts About Me:

1. I'm British

2. I was born at 8.26pm on the 26th of August (cool or creepy?)

3. My favourite colour is purple

4. I believe yellow and black are an unlucky colour combination, since I broke my arms wearing mostly black and yellow. Therefore, must be unlucky (logic).

5. I watch waaayy too much anime

6. I love to bake

7. I have a dog, 2 cats and 2 bunnies.

8. My top 3 favourite animals are elephants, pandas and pugs.

9. Throughout my life I have moved house countless times, including moving next door.

10. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to have been to France, Spain, Germany and Hong Kong multiple times.

11. When I'm older I want to have a job in medical science or media/journalism, like running my own magazine.

Questions I Have Been Asked:

1. Why is your blog name what it is?

My blog name is Flobean and it's the name of my cat. I chose it, because I think it is quite cool and catchy.

2. What is your favourite make-up product?

I'm going to be honest, I haven't been wearing make-up for very long, so I'm no expert, but I would say my favourite product is my Rimmel London Glam Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara (that was a mouthful).

3. Who is your favourite band? (if you have one!)

I don't really have a favourite band, so this question is pretty tough.

4. Have you been to any concerts before? If so, what is it?

I've been to 2 concerts before. I went to the Big Gig, when I was in guides and I went to see In Hindsight with my BFFF (best fat friend forever- that's just something we made up in year 8 and its kinda just stuck).

5. If you could go on holiday anywhere in the world for free, where would you go?

Definitely Hong Kong! I've already been their twice before, but I would love to go again, especially at christmas to see all the elaborate, festive decorations and to visit my granddad and his family.

6. Why did you start blogging?

This question is probably already answered in the description box about me to the left. Basically, I broke both my arms and I got bored sitting around all day, so I created a blog, where i could post my experience and other random stuff.

7. Do you have a favourite childhood memory? If so, what is it?

I have so many happy childhood memories, it's so hard to chose just one. Hmm... I think my favourite childhood memory was visiting London for the first time and seeing Big Ben and the Tower of London for my 12th birthday. I remember being so excited and literally bouncing along the streets in joy.

8. What is your favourite song at the moment?

I don't have a favourite song, but I'm loving Taylor Swift's and Clean Bandit's music.

9. What is your favourite Disney film?

Finding Nemo for sure. Although, the Lion Kings are super good too.

10. Have you ever met someone famous? If so, who?

Haven't ever personally met anyone famous, but if I could I would want to meet Zoella. She's such an amazing person and has worked really hard to get where she is today.

11. Do you have a favourite YouTuber? If so, who?

I have many favourite YouTubers, there's a long list, so I'll just mention a few: Maybaby, LaurDIY, Zoella, ThatcherJoe and Joe Weller.

Questions For My Nominees:

1. What is your favourite animal?
2. Do you like anime? If so, what are your favourite?
3. How many languages can you speak?
4. What are your hobbies?
5. What is your favourite school subject?
6. Have you ever travelled somewhere exciting? If so, where?
7. Are you a dog or a cat person?
8. What time is it where you live?
9. What is your favourite month?
10. What is the main focus of your blog?
11. What does your blog name mean?

Now to announce my nominees *drum roll*

The Horrors of... I Mean The Delights of Cross Country

Aah cross country, running around a boggy field in the freezing cold. What's not to love? (sarcasm)

Everyone has done it at least once in their life. Whether you volunteered as a tribute or were forced by your teacher, since you are known to enjoy running (that happened to me) we all have ran around like headless chickens through the marshes of our school fields.

Last Thursday me and many other unwilling students took a trip to our nearest private school for the yearly cross country event. I remember going last year and being just as nervous. Despite my nerves I managed to come 3rd place (how? idek) and even collected a medal. Unfortunately, as you must know by now, or if you are new here (hi!) I broke BOTH my arms the Wednesday before the next event. Just my luck! Anyway this year I came 6th and the top 16 go on to the next event, so hopefully I'll actually be able to make it, without breaking anything. It was a tough run, although it was just under 4k. I'm blaming it on how windy and cold it was. My sister also took part in the junior cross country and came 46th. Afterwards, to warm us up, there were hot chocolate and biscuits. Only the best, poshest refreshments from a private school, no surprise.

Overall, the run went pretty well and I'm looking forward to the next event in January.

Also, last weekend I took part in a 10k Morun (moustache run) for mens health.
And the weekend before I took part in a 5k poppy run, Run 2 Remember.

Photos of my medals and t-shirt below.

When the Doctor Tells You Your Arm Might Crumble

Ok, about the title... yes my arm might actually crumble, but I'll explain.

So today, I went to the hospital hoping my arms were fully healed by now (it's been 9 months after all!). Anyway at the hospital I went for an x ray, except it was just my luck that there would be a 30 minute delay. 30 minutes later I got told that the pins can be taken out in 4 weeks time (yay). However, when they take the pins out there's a slight chance that the bone still won't be healed enough, causing the bone to crumble (just great). Then they would have to insert a metal plate. I'm praying this won't happen, doesn't sound very fun. Below are the x rays I got today.

Autumn Colours

Hey guys, it's finally autumn, my favourite time of the year. Its getting a little colder, leaves are falling off the trees and halloween is right around the corner. The main reason why I adore autumn is the leaves (yes, you read that right) I like autumn, because of the leaves. I think their colours are so beautiful and create a very festive photo. Hence the photos below, which I took in photography with a couple of my friends and Danbo (he's a box robot from Amazon).

Danbo hiding in a pile of fallen leaves
Did you know his eyes light up? Cool, huh?
"Look I'm Tarzan"
And...Beanie

Sorry not sorry. Couldn't finish the post without a sneaky pic of her yawning and looking cute. ^.^

Question: I'm going to be starting a HUGE photography project at school, any ideas/themes what I should do it on? Leave your ideas in the comments below.
